Institute of Respiratory and Pulmonary (lungs) care in india
The Department of Respiratory & Pulmonary care, established as a separate department at JCS institute, is making significant progress. Lead by Dr. JC Suri and his team of pulmonary experts there are a total of five faculty members and nine DM fellows. The department has an ongoing DM (Pulmonary Medicines) training programme. The department has a fully functional respiratory medicine ward and respiratory intensive care unit. Lab facilities include a PFT (Pulmonary function testing laboratory).
High quality patient care is being provided to patients suffering from a variety of respiratory ailments. The department also is actively involved in research in the fields of pulmonary sarcoidosis, tuberculosis, lung cancer, bronchology and allergic airway disorders. The department also has a functional allergy testing system available for use in particular indications like allergic bronchopulmonary disorders like ABPA.
What is pulmonary medicine?
Pulmonary medicine is the specialty that focuses on helping people with respiratory challenges involving the lungs and bronchial tubes. Pulmonologists typically care for patients with more complex pulmonary disease; who are critically ill or injured; or who have a sleep disorder. They are responsible for:
- Diagnosis and treatment of respiratory diseases
- Diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders
- Management of critical illness
